RRmods.com Drops Association With TER’s Grogstop65

RRmods says “NO” to Trainz Eastern Routes’ association with the group.
Trainz Eastern Routes (TER) Chairman John Bethuy (Grogstop65) has had a difficult time with the Trainz Community this past year.
The railsim community is tight, and reputation is everything. Grogstop65 has experienced escalating unpopularity, especially with veterans at the Auran Trainz Forum, making reputation a difficult goal.
Delays in releasing pre-ordered Trainz content without legimiate explaination, and requests for product support that have been met with need for ‘proof of purchase‘ have not helped; along with complaints about over-priced routes that contain no custom content.
John’s reputation is not golden outside the Trainz community as well, as evidenced by comments left on a forum at BodyBuilding.com. The thread is accompanied by a link to photos of John, posted by John, which I warn you heterosexual males will find very disturbing. (The MySpace account and photos on Model Mayhem were removed by John just hours after this story posted, however the photos are still available [HERE].)
GAUX has spoken with several ex-TER customers that have made negative comments about the quality of products or services and have since received email notification from TER that they are banned from making future purchases and that monies paid “will be kept as a donation.”
TER now blows a trumpet celebrating a six-year anniversary on April 20 2009. But GAUX has uncovered that the inactive original domain (www.trainzeasternroutes.com) however, was created by Michael Bethuy, a relative of John, on December 20 2004. This puts TER at just under 4.5 years old on the upcoming ‘anniversary.’
TER experienced a ‘hosting problem’ last year that sent John on a hunt for someone in the Community to keep his payware content available to the public.
There were some discussions with GAURC about hosting his content, but an internal vote resulted in no invitation extended. John then accepted ‘a better offer’ at RRmods.com.
Sources tell GAUX that RRmods has since received several complaints from customers about TER products that were paid for, but not received. Sources also say that there were more than one warnings issued to TER to correct the problem and protect the reputation of RRmods.
Just this month, RRmods made the decision to terminate its association with TER and John Bethuy, and removed all the hosted content. One can speculate that RRmods, who’s reputation was the only investment, therefore probably had sufficient reason to take such action.
TER currently lives at www.likewhatyouc.com and is hosted at Freewebs.com.
The domain was most recently home to John’s modeling portfolio, which he describes as PG-13. One male-model magazine has this description of likewhatyouc.com: “You must see the site of Johny Bethuy. Johny is a model that is a recreation of Peter Berlin. Johny have that innocent look of the young pornstars of the 70’s. His site is not pornographic but is really homo-erotic, i see in this kid a real potential gay icon.”
The relevence of this personal information, of course, is how comfortable the average parent would be allowing children or teens to engage in online discussion and/or transactions at a site known for something very different than rail simulation, and with someone who is not-so private (online) about his personal life choices.
I spoke with John about the latest controversy, and asked some very specific questions. Here is what he had to say:
Were products paid for, that were not delivered?
“Absolutely Not! All products paid for were delivered and supported. I never received any complaints.
Not to long ago, I sent out a TER Product Survey to all 2008 and 2009 customers. This Survey asked customers about our product quality and customer service.
All the results have been positive and not a single refund was requested in 2008 and 2009. If in fact the accusations made against us were true, paypal services would have closed our account sometime in our 6 years of business.”
If true, was there effort to refund those customers?
“No refunds were requested in 2008 or 2009, if there had been any, than the money would have been refunded promptly.”
Are there any other ‘problems’ with the host (RRmods) and you, that I may already know about, on which you would like to comment?
“I was never aware that there were any problems. That is why the removal of my products came as such a surprise to me and my customers.
I never heard from Joe Ram “CEO of RRmods” as to why my products were removed.
I never received any customer complaints. I sent out surveys to reinforce to my customers that I care, and make sure that no one was missed.
If I didn’t hear any complaints in the first place, than I certainly would have when I asked all my 2008 and 2009 customers in a survey.
There are no customer problems, Joram based these decisions off rumors only circulating the USLW forum, that have been saved and logged.”
Joram24 of RRmods had this to say:
The only thing I can really say about this is that once customers of ours complained to me that TER was not sending their purchases and I got no reply from John on this matter in a set time period, I decided it was best to dissolve the association.
Especially after reading posts from his customers stating that he could keep their money without sending them their purchase. He also seems to have a problem answering his emails.
I don’t have time for this kind of nonsense when it comes to customer service and our site or any site hosted by us.
I have no personal issues with John and he is all right in my book as a person.
I think Paul made it very clear to him our stance on this matter.

UPDATE March 17 2008: Withing 24 hours of closing the business, Trainz Eastern Routes has re-opened for “business as usual.”
GAUX ADDS: There are going to be good and bad apples on every tree, and personal conflicts whenever people gather. Readers must be equally aware of what it is we don’t know, and take responsibility for one’s own opinion. Certainly, when taking a position in the Trainz Community, establishment of a reputation among peers is a primary goal. One must ask, is it possible for so many to be mistaken about another? This is a perfect example of “buyer beware.”

I have received one of these emails stating that my money would be kept as a donation and no products would be sent. I was unaffected by this, as I only purchase payware from “respectable” members of the TRS community. The routes that TER produces are simply below freeware standards at best, in my personal opinion. John has attacked many members of USLW, this is probably why he has seen negative posts about him there. John refuses to answer any questions about his maps, only going into hiding, and requesting that mods clean up posts which are not in his favor. John and TER are a very shady operation, and have been since the early days of TRS. I’m sure many will remember the Monneson City fiasco, where large amounts of “pre-order” cash was taken, but maps not delivered as promised, or delivered at all. I would love to shake “Bill’s” hand, Bill is the author of the email stating that his routes were being uploaded via torrent. John replied that he was contacting the FBI, yes the FBI. Can you imagine what the FBI would say to that?? I would have loved to heard that conversation. Also John seems to have a problem with lying and not being able to remember key things… This is “Buyer Beware” at it’s best!

For years my routes and my character have been singled out and attacked on the trainz forum, which most of you reading this know. rumors, gossip and lies are continually being fed to the trainz community “mostly spread by USLW members” with no evidence to justify the allegations. I cannot believe a group of men as talented as RRmods would fall prey to such garbage.
If you are expelled from school, fired from a job and so on, its proper to explain why. If there was a problem, i was totally unaware, because RRmods failed to inform me. I was only an email away and waiting for a response and explanation from the CEO of RRmods Joe Ram “Joram24″. The explanation never came.
This issue never should have made it to an online magazine, it should have been a few sentences explaining your decision, in private, man to man, business owner to business owner. Did I expect to much?
Inspite of undocumented, unjustifiable allegations; I will continue to run an honest business, pleasing the customers who enjoy my type of routes.
It will be business as usual at Trainz Eastern Routes tomorrow.

I say, good ridden to bad rubbish. Ever since I have voiced my opinion about the routes, I have been accused of being a troll, doing it just because I don’t like John and belong to USLW,(I have nothing against John, I just didn’t think that his routes were payware quality.)and attacked both on Auran and off, by John, and his goon Euphod. (The billboard that Euphod claims to have not created is one such attack. I of course, exposed his lie for what it was due to the fact that his “old” screenshot had month old content in it. I was also attacked on my deviant art.
I have seen one of the more recent routes at my friends house and it was not payware quality.

As you can see, not only was he dissatisfied, but he was also accused of being a thief. Matruck was more than polite, and even thought that he might have installed it wrong. John attempts to say that the poor quality was due to replacing the track, but I have to say that I personally have never had that happen, and that doesn’t explain the catanary placement in the middle of the tracks. To me, it looks like what I have seen before at my friends house. You claim to have no dissatisfied customers, but this proves that you have at least one.

It wasn’t Joram, but you appear to have been contacted so quit lying. And as for it being from rumors on USLW, I highly doubt that that was the reason your routes were deleted. Yes, we discussed the low quality of the routes on USLW, and yes, RRmods members are apart of the forums, but that doesn’t mean that we caused your routes to be taken down. I am pretty sure that it was your fault for charging an ungodly amount of money for low quality merchandise. Your latest route is around $35 dollars for the entire thing, and it is not up to payware quality. On the other hand, HP Trainz’s Marias Pass route, a high quality route that runs very well, is only around $20.00, and comes with custom content, scenarios, well layed track, and has been thoroughly tested, something I cannot say for TER.
Your slogan is “Quality makes a difference.” So, how come your routes are not quality routes? You make nice screenshots, though you attack anyone who says anything about them being enhanced,(which they obviously are. I recommend that you stop using autosharpen, and sharpen them manually so that they don’t hurt peoples eyes. It is what I do with my shots.)and that is about it. None of your routes have any custom content, scenarios, or even quality trackwork or texturing. Speaking of the texturing, you have admitted that you don’t focus on texturing because of perfomance issues. Because of this, wherever there is a gap in the folliage that you throw everywhere(sometimes unrealisticly) the quality of your routes show through.

It’s funny how nobody can post any comments on the question and answer blog over on John’s site? Only those that are his friends are allowed to ask questions. Customers that are upset with their purchases, are simply silenced. You will hear of any customer complaints on his site because he chooses to edit them to his liking. I have been guilty of “attacking” John, before. Granted, I was first attacked when I “resigned” from TER. (I had been on the team for a few months..) I was jeered at via AIM, and blocked before I could rebuttal.
All I can say is TER ran a shady, biased operation. Some of the products were worth a look, others not.

I was following this story for a little while. I know that statement was BS. their was about 2 complaints that i remember both was deleted when he requested the thread they where in to be deleted from auran forums.
Their may be a record of those complaints still on auran but in an admin only section of the forum.
I’m starting to see a theam. if the statement isn’t in public view or was removed from public view it never existed. for john

added note: you should hire that Lary_M for marketing because when he takes screen shots of your routes he makes them look like they are more than just spamed trees and grass.
No offense but when you take photos for advertising and marketing if it wasn’t for the description saying it was a route i would think you where trying to sell tree and grass pack or something. Because that’s what probably about 75% of your photos consist of just trees and grass.
although here is probably not the best place for constrictive criticism.
BTW john PM me over at auran if your interested in getting The few members in USLW to shut up. I know a few things that will both improve your business and get those members to shut up (or at lease quiet down) I CAN help you.

I don’t think that anyone was really surprised by Johns actions. As we all know TER has been and always will be full of scandals and lies. This is something we have all come to expect from John. John is simply thirsty for attention, and this is a for him to get that much needed attention. Respectable sites such as RRmods, USLW, and GAURC don’t need to do these kinds of things, because they don’t lie and steal money from community members. John will be back taking the hard earned money out of unsuspecting members hands as soon as he can. However John has tarnished his own reputation by doing childish things such as “Closing” for a matter of mere hours. This was another failed attempt a very bad marketing. As long as John continues his lies and continues to steal from the community, I’m sure there will be members to expose him for what he really is. Best of luck to John, as you will need it.

I don’t fault you for trying. It takes balls to try and stay in business with your reputation; and we know you have them… from your recent behavior, and because we’ve all seen them in the photos.
I wouldn’t plan on making too many sales to Trainz veterans, now that you have been branded a liar and thief by the very group you hope to serve. Nobody is buying your crap, and I mean that both literally and figuratively.
There is always the chance of duping a newbie or two, someone who doesn’t know you or done their research. So I, and the rest of the veterans you have pissed-off, will be sure to keep the message alive about what a tool you are in hopes of keeping those chances to a minimum.
I like the logos with the red circle and line on your blog. I can’t tell you how nice it is to see you finally produce some sort of custom content. Art school is really paying-off for you. Its a great original idea; I wish I had thought of it first.
Here’s another great idea for you… The “trainzeasternroutes.com” domain name expires on Dec 20 2009. You might think about saving some pennies (if you make any) and ask Michael about buying it so you can use it again. You probably won’t be very impressed with what is displayed there when I buy it instead; mark your calendar!
Look, I don’t think you are a bad guy. You are just lacking in maturity, honesty and morals. You do have some talent, but you should probably stay in art school and listen closely to what they have to say.
One day, John, you will grow up a little bit and realize that the glory days of TER are dead and gone, and that TER will never overcome the shadow of your reputation.
…But don’t worry, no one expects that to happen any time soon.

It could help to check your Email (and that means also check if you have the right Email posted everywhere) and empty and check your PMs at auran regularly. all complaints i heard on the forum (all except 1 i think was deleted) they all start out with “i tried Emailing but got no response” and/or “your PM box is full”. If both is true than the next best place to send the complaints (when u where hosted and appeared as a branch of RRmods) is joram24 since he hosts the site.

You know him too Grogstop. I hate to break it to you, but I am almost positive that his name is Euphod. He was obviously trying to make you think that you were under attack so that you would lash out against USLW and other websites. If you would have read my email, you would have seen this. The fact that no members got the supposed emails sent out, as well as the fact that no TER route is on a torrent site is pretty good proof.
Also, there were people that I have seen complaining about your route on the Auran forum, and each time they were deleted as attacking you. You even went so far as to accuse at least one of them of stealing your route.
Also, while you may not have stolen money in the something for nothing sense, not providing what was advertised is a legal form of theft. A good example of this that isn’t your routes is Spore. You claim that your routes are quality, and post pictures that show off overgrown rail tracks from angles that look good, not to mention photoshopping them to make them look better(once again, not a bad thing. I am not saying that you fixed anything in photoshop, you mainly sharpened the image and maybe added an effect. I do it too.) but when the person gets the route in question, they discover that the textures are horrible, the tracks are floating in places, and that the track isn’t that well placed in areas that involve turnouts.
Also, if anyone criticizes your routes, even constructive criticizing or giving you a tip about making your screenshots not hurt peoples eyes, you flip out and attack them. Your product is not perfect like you seem to think, and your inability to learn will doom you to a poor reputation.
Noone caused you to be targeted except for yourself, and the sooner that you realize this, the sooner you can learn from it and move on and improve yourself and your reputation.
Also, just for your information, even if I never joined USLW.net, or even heard of them, I would have posted the same things once you attacked me. I had seen your routes in person, and didn’t think that much of them, but I kept my mouth shut until you attacked me.

For me the ONLY reason why i joined USLW.net was to improve my work. i got the same exact treatment as you grogstop (except a little more privily)all i did was Ignore the insults improved what they where complaining about. and after i improved my F59ph-ac to today standards they quieted down.

After 6 years of business customers already know what to expect from me. And thats why they always come back for our next route.
I like the way I build routes, as do my customers; which makes both of us happy.

8. Not long ago a friend of the owner of this magazine sent me an email stating that my routes have been uploaded to a free download site and are being sent out to trainz members. I learned this when I was oulled into a intergation chat by the ownwer of this magazine and Mike of USLW. (Everying is Saved and logged.) Sense your all about the truth Rick, who really sent that threating email about stealing my product line?

Jadebullet: You know him too Grogstop. I hate to break it to you, but I am almost positive that his name is Euphod. He was obviously trying to make you think that you were under attack so that you would lash out against USLW and other websites. If you would have read my email, you would have seen this. The fact that no members got the supposed emails sent out, as well as the fact that no TER route is on a torrent site is pretty good proof.

Sort of like we are exposing your lies to everyone. People HAVE complained. That is a fact, though due to your constant censoring of anything that is bad about you or your routes, there I personally cannot prove it except for this one.

You attacked this customer for asking about whether or not he installed the route incorrectly or not since it looked as low quality as it does. You even basically accused him of stealing the route.
PLEASE READ HERE SINCE YOU SEEM TO BE IGNORING IT!
Though it isn’t technically illegal, advertising your routes as quality, and posting screenshots that do not show off what the route actually looks like is misdirection and a form of legal theft. It is the old bait and switch technique. Hype up pics of your product that show off the one thing that you do good(vegitation) and say that it is quality. Then when the customer gets it, they get a route that looks like the link above.
You lied to that customer by the way. Changing the track WILL NOT cause it to shift the way that it did, nor will it mess up the grades like that. I have done it several times and nothing like that has EVER happened. And even if it did, it wouldn’t explain why the catanaries are in the middle of the tracks, or why you used a catanary as a powerpole in your other route. By the way, I have seen one of your other routes at my friends house, and it looked exactly like the one in the above pic. Lying to your customers that have a problem with the product that they purchased is pretty low John, though I will give you that other companies such as EA games do the same thing.
Also, in reference to the fact that you question people complaining to you, as can be seen above, your PM inbox is full, and you refuse to respond to emails that people send you, mine included. So because of this people probably either went to Joram, or they went on Auran’s forum and posted there, where they were quickly silenced by your censorship of their questions.(Which is against BBB regulations by the way.)
I guess that the correct term wouldn’t be that you stole from people, but that you swindled them out of money.

He had a problem, and I did what most business owners do.
Ask for a proof of purchase.
When you return a product or take it to be fixed, it is customary to bring a receipt.
We fixed the bug, and the patch is uploaded and being shipped out.
There were two bug shots and over a 100 high quality shots of YS alone.
That makes TER’s high Quality the Majority!
The BBB sided with TER on all reported case, that were only made by USLW associates.

It’s still possible #1 the Email is a throw away Email address it’s only active for about 48 hours after creation after that it deleted (i did research in to that Email u got) also anyone can use a proxy server they could live any ware and the proxy will change their IP to say they live somewhere else. If you give me that IP address i can do an IP trace to the user. If he was using a Proxy i can only have a rough (about 100 miles give or take) but if he wasn’t using one i can give u his exact town he lives in. There was this program i had at one point in time where it could even give you a satellite picture of the person’s house.

Tracking a user’s IP address requires the IP to be visible at Tranizforums.com. To find if an IP was used at Trainzforums.com, you would need to have administrative permissions. There is no way to back up that the origins are at Trainzforums.com by means of visiting there. USLW does not log IP addresses.

freewebs yes i know that system very well. it also gives you a satellite image and street address of each IP address (the reason why i thought you opened that site up for posting by everyone)
BTW on a side note i decided to take a look for that “torrent” they where talking about and i found a torrent posted Monday, 21 July 2008 that had some of your routes in it. i won’t post a link due to all the porn adds and possible viruses. but it was only downloaded 48 times and long since died off. there is also 2 people trying to download the non-exsistant file.

the only thing i can tell you about that Email is it was once used to create a user name on some forum by the name of “lavalamp”. But i also found out that anyone could log in to it. so idk if that means anything. (i did a LOT of looking in to that Email out of curiosity on who really sent it)

I am the original person who first posted three screen shots from your route.I go by the user name matruck i have not received a patch for the YS route please don’t ask for proof of purchase again as we all know who i am by now,You stated that it was only two bad pics out of a possible hundred i would of been flamed for sure if i had posted the exact number of mistakes i found but its a lot more then two out of a hundred,If you need proof of that for YS or even New England Fall then please say so and i will post more pics for you,I have tried numerous times to contact you to clear the air on this subject with you( Even supplying my emails and MSN addresses)but you refuse to reply(So that sums up your customer service attitude)i paid money for you to give me a route i could spend hours enjoying not a route that i have to fix for hours at a time befor i even got to put a loco on the tracks,When i did post the problem (And please don’t deny this)You first accused me of not buying the route on a public forum,Then you also stated that i should fix it myself once again on a public forum,Then to add insult to injury once again on a public forum you implied that your routes were stolen and 1000’s of emails were being sent to trainz forum members informing them about sum crap you thought up but WITH MY GOD DAM NAME ALL OVER IT.And still no answer you just continue to dance around the fact that all i wanted was a simple answer(That yes you were going to help me)You mite have sum new found friends who will bend over for you(I don’t think we need names cause I’m sure there here as we speak)But I’ll not bend or break to this kind of CRAP SERVICE.

I do not think you changed my route. I think the route thief who sent that nasty email, stating that my routes are being uploaded for free while sending out spam about TER to over a thousand community members. I figured he was editing the route. Not you.

As I said before it was ever implied that you edited the route. If you felt that it was, it was a big mis-understanding
I will be sending you the YS patch today. The patch isn’t as great as I wanted it to be. I was going to add in 10 extra miles of Part 2; but recent events have not dealt me the time.
I will be sending you my next release for free.
